Gennadiy Golovkin won’t hear the final bell when he faces Canelo Alvarez on September 17th.
The modern legends will partake in a third fight of a terrific series in Las Vegas and a ton of intrigue surrounds the fight following Canelo’s loss to Dmitry Bivol earlier this year. Mikey Garcia, a four-weight world champion, is still backing Canelo
Golovkin's chances were not fancied by the boxing community beforehand but after Canelo’s setback, the fight appears to be a lot closer.
Their first meeting in 2017 was largely dominated by the Kazakh star before controversially being scored a draw, but Camelo adapted brilliantly in the rematch to claim a majority decision verdict.
With the trilogy bout set to take place in two months, Garcia is insistent that Canelo will win in brutal fashion. “I think Canelo wins. I think he stops GGG this time,” said Garcia when speaking to Boxing Social.
“I like GGG, I’ve been a fan, but the thing is at this time in his career, I think Canelo wins by knockout.”
