Friday night's Most Valuable Prospects 10 main event between Antonio Vargas and Winston Guerrero started off with fireworks from the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida, and live on DAZN.
Within the first 30 seconds of the fight, Vargas dropped Guerrero with a counter right uppercut-left hook combination.
But just when it looked like Vargas would run away with the fight, Guerrero shocked him the very next round by uncorking a thunderous overhand right that made Vargas hit the deck.
While the fight seemed to be anyone's from there, Vargas got his legs back and showed his boxing pedigree, taking it to Guerrero's body and softening him up before unloading a couple of hellacious right hands en route to overwhelming Guerrero toward a rousing 10th-round TKO. The punctuating victory gave Vargas the interim WBA bantamweight world championship as he'll certainly aim for more in 2025.
"My dream is to become a champion and the undisputed champion at 118 [pounds]," Vargas told DAZN. "I want to take over the division. All the champions are in Japan right now, so I've been waiting to go there and start dethroning them and bringing the belts back to America, so that's my next step."
With the victory, in front of MVP's Jake Paul, Vargas improved to 19-1 with 1 no contest and 11 KOs. Guerrero suffered his first loss, with his record now 22-1 (13 KOs).
