Muhammad Ali’s grandson has hit back at recent criticism from Teofimo Lopez.
Nico Ali Walsh is now 11-1 after beating Sona Akale in a rematch on Saturday night on the card for Lopez’s fight with Steve Claggett.
Walsh is just 23 and continues to build his career, and impressed with the manner of victory - overcoming a dislocated shoulder suffered during his sixth-round match-up.
In the build-up to the fight, WBO super lightweight champion Lopez had said Walsh was only making good of an opportunity afforded him because of his grandfather’s name,
"One thing for sure I gotta clear, Teofimo Lopez said in an interview a few weeks before this fight - he disrespected my family saying that I'm only in boxing because I'm desperate for money and fame and I thought that was real wrong for someone I used to look up to to say," Walsh told Sky Sports . "But, you know, it is what it is.
"I just wanna let everyone know that I chose the path of boxing, I chose the path of legacy. If I wanted to, I could be a millionaire right now.”
