Oleksandr Usyk: Daniel Dubois offered immediate rematch with one stipulation

Oleksandr Usyk: Daniel Dubois offered immediate rematch with one stipulationTop Rank

Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk was confident that Daniel Dubois’ controversial low blow was not legitimate, while the champion has a stipulation for a rematch.

The incumbent champion was struck on the waistband in the fifth round and various replays and stills show either a punch that struck the body, or one that might have hit below the navel.

That has led to demands for a rematch from the British fighter’s camp, while others think Dubois was fortunate not to be docked a point, and others feel the referee Luis Pabon was largely correct in his actions.

Speaking after the win for his man, Krassyuk was content with the decision.

"Do we have a definition of legal and illegal? The belly button is the line. Anything low of that is a low blow," he said.

Usyk added that he would be ready to run it back on Sunday - if Dubois was happy to go with a bareknuckle street fight.

"Boxing is sport and gentleman. It's not a street fight," Usyk said. He added: "I'm ready to fight tomorrow. In a rematch. In the street fight. Not boxing gloves but a street fight. Only fists."
