Unified world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has claimed that the WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is "afraid" of him following the announcement of Fury's fight with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

Fury and Ngannou are set to meet in Saudi Arabia on October 28, while Usyk returns to action next month when he defends his three world heavyweight titles against WBA mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois.

The Ukrainian was forced to switch his attention to dealing with his mandatories after numerous attempts to make an undisputed fight with Fury failed, and he was quick to give his reaction to the Ngannou fight.

"For Francis Ngannou, this is a great opportunity, but for Tyson Fury, it's definitely not," Usyk told Sky Sports

"Doesn't it seem strange that instead of choosing a top-10 guy, he is choosing someone who has never boxed before?"

When asked whether Fury was scared of featuring in an undisputed heavyweight title clash, Usyk made his thoughts very clear.

"Yes, of course! Of course," Usyk responded.

"Greedy belly [Tyson Fury] is afraid of me."
