A major event takes place this summer.

Deontay Wilder’s August showdown with Jared Anderson is no longer taking place after the former WBC heavyweight champion was stopped by Zhilei Zhang earlier this month.

Instead, Martin Bakole will get an opportunity against Anderson with the bout set to take place on August 3 in Los Angeles.

The contest will feature on the undercard of Terence Crawford’s world title fight against Israil Madrimov, and the winner will be in a decent position to push forward towards a major fight.

Anderson is seen as one of America’s brightest heavyweight hopes, and his fight with Bakole may tell us more about him.

The Congolese dangerman has long been avoided at heavyweight, but Anderson is ready to face the challenge.

Bakole has sparred with some of the world's best fighters including Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, and victory over Anderson could land him a shot at one of his former training partners.
