Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk have a lot of history.

Anthony Joshua was unable to beat Oleksandr Usyk over two fights, but a former trainer of the British heavyweight wouldn’t be surprised if his former fighter won a trilogy meeting.

Robert Garcia was in the corner of Joshua for his second meeting with Usyk as the Ukrainian once again ran out a deserved points winner.

The victory ensured that Joshua and Garcia parted ways, but the split appears to be an amicable one so far with Garcia still speaking highly of Joshua’s talents.

The former two-time world champion is set to face Francis Ngannou in March and if Usyk can get past Tyson Fury next month, he’d likely become a target for Joshua.

“He is the second most-talented fighter in the division,” said Garcia when speaking to Boxing Social

“So much potential, so big, so strong, but he needed that confidence and I think that last fight [against Otto Wallin] showed him that he belongs up there.

“Even though he has lost to Usyk, he has got to think that he is the best, the way he fought, I wouldn’t be surprised if he beat Usyk in a third fight because he fought good.”
