The pair are set to fight to contest the interim WBO championship.

Oleksandr Usyk has warned Joe Joyce that he will be the one making the ‘final’ decision over any fight.

Usyk is the WBO interim champion and mandatory challenger to current champion Anthony Joshua, but the Ukrainian is expected to step aside in order for Joshua to make his fight with Tyson Fury as the pair look to contest the title of undisputed heavyweight champion.

As a result, Joyce and Usyk are set to meet in a placeholder fight until one or more of the belts comes up for grabs, but an agreement does not appear imminent.

Usyk explained the delay on social media, saying: "Joyce's team made us an offer.

"The offer was unsuitable, so we made a more viable counter-offer.

"Joyce shouldn't think too much of himself and fall in line with everyone else. I'll be the one making the final decision."

An agreement is likely to be reached eventually given the WBO have instructed the Usyk-Joyce fight should go ahead, with contracts now signed between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury for their own contest.
