Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya wants to make a fight between unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez Jr. and rising star Ryan Garcia.

Oscar De La Hoya is looking to get Golden Boy Promotions involved in the machinations of the lightweight division in 2021.

The division has been blown wide open by Teofimo Lopez Jr.’s upset win over Vasiliy Lomachenko.

Lomachenko gave up his IBF, WBA and WBO belts to the victor but WBC titleholder Devin Haney, Gervonta Davis, Luke Campbell, Ryan Garcia and others are all in the mix to fight Lopez and one another.

Lopez has discussed moving up to 140lbs in pursuit of more belts, but De La Hoya is keen to set up a fight between Garcia and Lopez.

Garcia is due to fight Campbell on Dec. 5, but the promoter is already looking ahead.

“I can’t wait to do Teofimo in the future with Ryan Garcia,” he said on Instagram Live.

“That’s the fight to make. It’s crazy, because everyone is after Ryan Garcia. Imagine that. But Teofimo rocks. He killed it. He’s going to be a great champion for many years to come. We can’t wait to make those big fights happen.”

However, De La Hoya acknowledged that Campbell would be no pushover.

“You know one thing about me is that I love making all of the fights happen, and fighting the very best,” he claimed.

“I seriously feel that Ryan Garcia wants that as well. Believe me. Campbell is a tough fight. When [Garcia] gets past Campbell, the sky's the limit for Ryan. He’s the superstar now. He’s going to fight the very best.”
