Could we see a huge battle at 168lbs next year?

David Benavidez returns to action later this month as he welcomes Demetrius Andrade to business end of the super-middleweight division.

Long speculated to face Canelo Alvarez at some point, Benavidez will need to be at his best against Andrade if he’s to secure a bout with the Mexican and if he does land a fight with Canelo, Oscar De La Hoya is backing him to win.

Once promoted by De La Hoya, Canelo has managed his own career for a number of years now and he was recently in action in September when he defeated Jermell Charlo.

Canelo’s next move is still unconfirmed, but he’ll likely be a keen spectator on November 25 when Benavidez faces the two-weight world champion.

“I think he [Benavidez] knocks him out, I really do,” said De La Hoya when discussing Benavidez vs. Canelo with Fight Hub TV.

“Benavidez is a monster. Benavidez throws an average of above 55 punches per round. Canelo-Charlo, in the first round, they threw one punch combined. So, I’m just talking to you as a boxing expert.”
