Oscar De La Hoya’s personal rivalry with Canelo Alvarez threatened to overspill in the build-up to the latter’s fight with Jaime Munguia this week.
The pair exchanged words at the pre-fight press conference, but everyone involved appeared to be calmer once the fight was out the way.
Canelo retained his undisputed world title at super-middleweight with a unanimous points win over Munguia in Las Vegas.
Munguia put up a spirited effort despite losing for the first time, and De La Hoya was quick to compliment Canelo on his winning performance.
"I thought Jaime did excellent against the current face of boxing right now," said De La Hoya when speaking at the post-fight press conference.
"I take nothing away from Canelo, I've always said he is good fighter in the ring.”
