Vasiliy Lomachenko is heading into his upcoming world title fight against George Kambosos knowing that his career is approaching the end.
Lomachenko has a chance to become world champion again when he travels to Australia this weekend to fight the local favourite (live on ESPN in the US).
Since turning professional in 2013, Lomachenko has climbed through weight classes and fought some of boxing’s biggest names.
The Ukrainian has not fought since losing a close bout to Devin Haney last May and he goes into the Kambosos battle knowing retirement is not too far away.
“My career is almost done, of course. How many years it’s going to be, one, two, three, that’s it, but I still think I have a little bit of power,” said Lomachenko when speaking to Fox Sports Australia.
“At this stage, every fight is hard. It’s hard to recover after fights. I don’t know what will happen with my body after this fight.”
