Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson and Shannon Briggs have been hilariously jabbing each other on social media for weeks now, entertaining the prospects of both a boxing bout and MMA fight.
So, is the aggression toward each other real? Jackson attempted to explain just that when asked about it during a recent appearance on the DAZN Boxing Show .
"I like laughing. Yeah, it's funny. I'm alive," Jackson said. "But some of them (insults), some of them you know hurt my feelings."
All jokes aside, the 43-year-old Jackson doesn't think that the 49-year-old Briggs should be calling him out at all.
"From what I know, Shannon hasn't fought over five years," Jackson continued telling Ak and Barak. "He smokes a lot of cannabis. He call it Shannon-buss.
"He just old. He got one foot in in a nursing home. He shouldn't be calling me out.
"I'm older too. But he older than me. My last fight was New Year's 2020 even though you can't really call it a fight because I got my ass knocked out within like first two minutes or so. But I still was in training camp."
The former UFC light heavyweight champion is referring to the first-round TKO (punches) defeat he suffered at the hands of Fedor Emelianenko back in December 2019. Jackson has lost three of his last four fights.
Meanwhile, Briggs, a former two-time world heavyweight champion, hasn't fought since a first-round KO of Emilio Zarate back in May 2016 for his 60th career victory.
As the two continue to trade shots on social media, 'Rampage' is banking on a fight soon.
"We gonna get in there," he said, "I gotta shut his old ass up."
