When it comes to Regis Prograis taking on Jack Catterall at Co-op Live in Manchester, England on August 24, the timing is just right.
In fact, during a recent sitdown with Matchroom Boxing, Prograis explained why he and Catterall are "made for each other" at the moment.
"My goal is to be a three-time champion and this is the only thing that's going to get me to becoming a three-time champion," Prograis began explaining.
"Right now, the goal was I was supposed to fight [Subriel] Mattias and then he lost. And then I thought I was going to fight [Liam] Paro and that didn't happen so they gave me Jack.
"I think this is the best opportunity for me right now. Jack is the biggest name without a belt right now."
Catterall's fighting profile received a great boost back in May when he delivered a unanimous decision over Josh Taylor in their rematch, which he used to avenge a controversial split-decision loss back in February 2022. Prograis is coming off a lopsided unanimous decision defeat at the hands of Devin Haney in December.
At 35, Prograis (29-2, 24 KOs) sees a win over Catterall as a potential catapult back to another world title reign at 140 pounds.
"It's the perfect fight for both of us in that stage of our careers because he wants a belt and I want to be a three-time champion," Prograis said, "so I think that we are kind of made for each other right now."
