Regis Prograis knows what it takes to get in the ring with Devin Haney after facing the Las Vegas based fighter last year.
The New Orleans man was defending his WBC 140lbs title against Haney last December, but he was well beaten on the scorecards as Haney turned in one of the best performances of his career.
Now set to face Ryan Garcia in April, Haney is continuing his run of big fights and Prograis has paid tribute to his former rival.
Haney was an undisputed champion at 135lbs and is a two-weight world champion, but Prograis has explained why he believes Haney doesn't get the recognition other fighters do.
“I don’t think Devin gets the credit he deserves because of his upbringing,” said Prograis when speaking to World Boxing News.
“Boxing is historically a poor man’s sport, so most fighters come from rough backgrounds, and Devin didn’t. I think that’s why people don’t give him the credit he deserves. But he’s a special talent.”
