Robert Garcia reveals ideal Anthony Joshua plan ahead of potential fight with Deontay WilderDAZN

Anthony Joshua needs two more fights before taking on the challenge of long-time rival, Deontay Wilder.

That’s the verdict of Robert Garcia who was in Joshua’s corner when the former heavyweight champion tried to reclaim his crown against Oleksandr Usyk in August. Joshua was unsuccessful and his climb back to the top is set to resume in the near future.

Linked to a fight with Tyson Fury in recent weeks, Joshua’s next move won’t be against his fellow countryman with Fury now set to make a defence of his WBC belt against Derek Chisora on December 3.

Wilder defeated Robert Helenius last weekend, but Garcia believes the man he trained earlier this year could benefit from some more time in the ring.

“It would be a great fight because with Anthony and Wilder, we know it ends by knockout,” said Garcia when speaking to 210 Boxing.

“Wilder just had one, but I think Anthony Joshua needs two fights, just to get his confidence back up and then they could fight at the end of next year.

“It would be such a great fight because everybody knows it ends by knockout, everybody knows that whoever lands the first punch is going to win by knockout.

“So, they are both going to be training so hard to not get knocked out. It would probably be the most entertaining fight in the heavyweight division because they are both big names and it would generate a lot of attention.”
