Rolly Romero has continued his combative approach to social media after he referred to a potential fight with Regis Prograis as a “tune-up.”
Romero is the current WBA champion at super lightweight after beating Ismael Barroso earlier in the year, and he has been putting himself in the frame for a few fights, including Devin Haney.
Haney is now WBC champion at 140lbs, which could tee up a unification fight in the division. The man he got to be there, Regis Prograis, said on Twitter that he would be ready to fight Romero “next”.
The 34-year-old is an experienced hand in the division, and if he were to come away with a win against Prograis then he would add some credit to his record, but it seems that he has his eyes on another fight, going by social media,
Whether he is entirely serious or not is open to question, but on early Tuesday morning, he responded to Prograis on X, formerly known as Twitter, by writing: “I don’t do tune ups”.
