Roy Jones Jr holds a ton of admiration for Anthony Joshua but that hasn’t stopped the former pound for pound superstar from advising the British heavyweight to avoid a certain fighter.
Joshua made his return to the ring earlier this month following two losses to Oleksandr Usyk as he ran out a deserved points winner against Jermaine Franklin.
Although the result got Joshua back to winning ways, the performance didn’t please everyone as there were some who wanted Joshua to make light work of the American.
With his career under more scrutiny than ever due to a number of circumstances including Derrick James being in his corner, Jones Jr is the latest high profile boxing figure to have his say.
“I love ‘AJ’ to death, and I think he’s a great fighter,” said Jones Jr when discussing the former heavyweight champion with iD Boxing.
“His issue right now is dealing with punches coming back at him, so you don’t want to fight Wilder.
“Those punches that will be coming at you from him are different to anybody else in the division, so he’s got to go get that taken care of before he goes in front of Wilder.”
