Jason McAteer made headlines when he proposed a boxing match between himself and former Ireland international teammate Roy Keane, with McAteer even calling on promoter Eddie Hearn to organise a multi-million pound fight featuring the two retired footballers.

On Wednesday, longtime player and manager Steve Bruce weighed in on the situation, predicting a decisive victory for one of the potential combatants.
Speaking to Gambling Zone, Bruce said: "I can't believe those reports about Jason McAteer wanting to take on Roy Keane in a celebrity boxing match - I have to back my old teammate, Roy.
"I would back him against most if I'm being totally honest. I'd have to say it'd be via knockout."
