Are we any closer to Ryan Garcia vs. Gervonta Davis?

After his sixth-round knockout over Javier Fortuna on Saturday evening, Garcia made it clear he wanted "Tank" next.

"I will fight Tank next," Garcia defiantly said in his post-fight interview with DAZN's Chris Mannix.

Beyond a tweet saying he'd see everyone in December for his in-ring against an unknown opponent, Davis hasn't spoken about Garcia. However, that didn't stop his promoter at Mayweather Promotions, the legendary Floyd Mayweather, from doing an interview with Fighthype.com and declaring the fight would occur at 135 pounds and not 140, where Garcia has fought the last two times.

“The main man in the sport of boxing right now is the man that is attached to me, Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis,” Mayweather said. “That’s the only thing this kid, Ryan Garcia, that’s the only thing he know is Tank.

“‘I want to fight Tank; I don’t care if it’s the biggest fight.’ Okay, you want to fight Tank. In boxing, we make sacrifices. So, we know that Tank fights at 135. If you want to fight Tank at 135, we can make it happen before the end of the year.”

If you thought Garcia would let Mayweather, who is retired, skate by, think again, as the 23-year-old made it abundantly clear he will accept the terms of the weight class and has a final parting shot for Mayweather.

"It’s any weight any time, any place, there’s your answer Floyd, oh yeah you can get it to if you want," Garcia retorted.

"Let’s hear the excuse now???
