Ryan Garcia is adamant that he’ll stop Gervonta Davis when the explosive pair finally meet.
A special guest on a recent episode of The DAZN Boxing Show, Garcia took time from his training camp ahead of his July 16 bout with Javier Fortuna to discuss multiple issues. His rivalry with ‘Tank’ was discussed with Garcia maintaining his icy confidence throughout.
Last month, Garcia sat ringside as Davis demonstrated his brutal punching power as he stopped Rolly Romero with one shot.
Despite 135lbs containing a wealth of talent including Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko, the most lucrative match-up would be Garcia against Davis. It’s a fight Garcia enters with a huge amount of belief.
“I’m confident that I beat up ‘Tank’ and stop him,” said Garcia when speaking to Ak and Barak on The DAZN Boxing Show.
“I seen a lot of things in that fight where I wouldn’t make the same mistakes that Rolly did. Rolly doesn’t have that much experience. He’s only been fighting since he was 17 and you could see that his emotions got to him.
“I was already confident before but after being asked if I’m more confident then I’ll say yes. I’m not just talking the talk, I actually do want to fight Gervonta Davis. I’m not just saying this for clout. I really want to fight Gervonta and I’m open to it.”
