Sebastian Fundora believes he is at the top of the super welterweight division as he prepares to fight Carlos Ocampo this weekend in his first interim WBC championship title defence.

The 24-year-old American is unbeaten in 20 fights, with a split decision draw against Jamontay Clark back in 2019 the only blemish on his professional record.

Jermell Charlo is the undisputed champion at 154lbs, and an interim championship could be the best path to a title shot against the quadruple beltholder.

Speaking on Thursday at a press conference, Fundora claimed that he is one of the top names in the division.

“I felt like I proved to the people that I’m an elite fighter as well,” he said, reported BoxingScene.com

“You know, I’m hanging in there with all these guys. I’m stopping these guys as well, so you know, I have what it takes to become a world champion.”

He fights Ocampo at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California on Saturday evening.
