Shakur Stevenson is looking past Toka Khan Clary with Carl Frampton in his sights.
The former WBO featherweight champion claimed that Frampton, a former WBA and IBF super-bantamweight and WBA featherweight champion, was scared of meeting him.
Stevenson said in an interview with Marc Gatford via the MyBettingSites.co.uk blog that, “His punk a-- doesn't want to fight me, that dude, I think he's scared to fight me. If he comes through [against Jamel] Herring I'm going to f--- him up.
“I don't think he'll fight me, I think even if he wins he was talking about retiring, I don't think he really wants to fight me.”
Stevenson will fight Clary on December 12 but was happy to consider a future fight against Frampton, making it clear he would be willing to travel to Northern Ireland in order to fight in Belfast.
“I would love to come to the lion's den in Belfast and beat-up on Frampton,” he said.
“I'd love to be the person to retire Frampton. “
Stevenson thinks little of Frampton’s ability, believing him to be an easy opponent should the pair ever meet.
“Frampton has got the perfect style for me, the sit back and box, looking for hard, big punches - that s--- won't work. Over the course of the fight, I'll stop him.”
Casting more aspersions on Frampton’s ability, Stevenson predicted a victory for Jamel when he fights the Northern Irishman.
“I think Jamel will beat Frampton, I think Frampton is too small,” he explained.
“ I think Jamel will outbox him and use his reach and range against Frampton, I can't see him finding a way to hit or reach Jamel. Herring is a really big 130-pounder.”
“Tune in December 12, I'm going to put on an amazing performance and I'm going to show why everybody believes why I’m one of the best young fighters in the sport. It’s going to be fireworks.”
