Shakur Stevenson issues challenge to Devin Haney

Shakur Stevenson issues challenge to Devin HaneyMikey Williams / Top Rank

Shakur Stevenson has challenged Devin Haney to face him at some point in 2023 with all the marbles at 135lbs on the line.

Haney is currently speculated to be facing Vasiliy Lomachenko at some point in the first half of this year, and if successful he’ll need to make a decision regarding what weight class his future lies in.

Haney has enjoyed considerable success at lightweight with impressive wins over the likes of Jorge Linares and George Kambosos.

Despite being recognised as the division's best fighter, a support cast of stellar names are pursuing Haney and one is Stevenson.

The Newark native, already a two-weight world champion, is eager to face his fellow Amercian.

“The way Devin is talking, he’s going to stay at 135,” said Stevenson when speaking with ">FightHype.

“His father said there will not be another champion in 2023, so I’m here to prove him wrong. Devin has got no choice. It’s either me, or Tank. After Lomachenko, it’s either me, Tank, Ryan, or whoever, that’s it.”
