Shakur Stevenson described Joe Cordina as England’s best super featherweight and said he would travel for a unification fight.
Stevenson is the WBO and WBC champion at 130lbs while Cordina defeated Kenichi Ogawa last night to become the IBF belt holder.
The 30-year-old is in fact Welsh, and delivered a second-round knockout in Cardiff to earn a dominant victory, and talk quickly turned to a potential unification fight.
Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn was ready to entertain the possibility and it looks as if both fighters are keen.
Writing on Twitter after the fight, Stevenson posted: “Told y’all he the best fighter @ 130 from England.. I would love to come to England for some [smoke] tho champ congrats @JoeCordina_91”.
Cordina swiftly responded: “Respect bro - Enjoy my break and we’ll talk soon for sure”.
