Add Showtime Boxing to the list of sports returning this summer after months of inaction amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Showtime Boxing on July 22 announced its schedule for the rest of 2020. It begins Aug. 1 with the undefeated Stephen “Cool Boy Steph” Fulton Jr. fighting another unbeaten boxer in Angelo “El Chinito” Leo with the junior featherweight world title on the line. It ends in mid-December when Nordine Oubaali and Nonito Donaire fight for the WBC bantamweight title.
The highlights of Showtime Boxing's 2020 return schedule include a pair of pay-per-view events.
On Sept. 26-27, both Jermall and Jermell Charlo will fight as part of a pay-per-view doubleheader. Jermall will defend his WBC middleweight title against Sergiy Derevyanchenko, and Jermell will try to unify his WBC junior welterweight title against IBF and WBA title holder Jeison Rosario.
The other pay-per-view event, scheduled for Oct. 24, features Gervonta Davis vs. Leo Santa Cruz. Both Davis’ WBA lightweight title and Santa Cruz’s WBA junior lightweight title will be on the line.
Each of the nine events on Showtime Boxing's 2020 schedule will take place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., with no fans in attendance.
