Liam Paro is facing an uphill battle against Subriel Matias this weekend as he looks to become world champion at super-lightweight.
The Australian star enters the bout a significant underdog and he’ll face a hostile reception in Matias’ home arena in Puerto Rico.
Matias is seen as one of the most dangerous operators in boxing and he’s seeking fights against the likes of Teofimo Lopez and Ryan Garcia.
Paro is hoping to spoil those dreams and Eddie Hearn, the promoter of the fight, has advised Paro to try and stay in the fight in the early stages.
“Somehow, Liam has got to find a way not to go six nil down but also to hit the backstretch unscathed with the energy with the body armour in place to actually take it to Matias,” said Hearn when speaking to DAZN.
“It might turn him into a more dangerous animal.”
