Terence Crawford confirms retirement plan from boxing: I won't go as far as 50-0DAZN

Note: This interview was conducted and originally published days before Crawford's win over Avanesyan.

Terence Crawford still has plenty to achieve in his career as he gets ready for the threat of the dangerous David Avanesyan, but he feels he’ll know when the right time to walk away will be.

Crawford will receive the adulation of his beloved Nebraska faithful this weekend when he takes on Avanesyan as he looks to defend his WBO welterweight crown.

Crawford’s career has run side by side with the Errol Spence’s in recent years, but any meeting between the pair still isn’t certain.

Crawford, who recently turned 35, is fully aware that time isn't on his side, and it appears that his exit plan from boxing is already set in stone following a superb career that could still contain several more successful stories.

"I won't go as far as 50-0, I don't think about that too much,” said Crawford when speaking to DAZN.

“I don't think too much about that, I just do what I do best and that's winning, one fight at a time, and everything else falls into place.

“I don't feel like I'll be in boxing to get to 50-0. I've been in boxing since I was seven years old and that's a lot of wear and tear on your body, it gets tough. What I want is to retire from boxing and I don't want to let boxing retire me"
