Terence Crawford dismissed Teofimo Lopez’s chances of meeting him in the ring, and had some choice words for the super lightweight champion.
Crawford fought last year against Errol Spence Jr. and was a convincing winner as he became undisputed at welterweight.
Lopez meanwhile defeated Josh Taylor to claim his first world title at 140lbs after starting to struggle at lightweight.
Lopez has called for a match-up with Crawford and with just seven pounds separating the two, there is a viable fight to be made, assuming the latter does not move up to super welterweight as has been suggested in recent months.
Crawford responded on social media, writing on X: “Teofimo Lopez, your ****** *** better worry about them little guys that’s on yo ass down there in yo weight class.
“It’s crazy. Every time I see yo *** ***, you don’t even look my way, but when you in front of a camera, you got so much to say. You a *****”
Lopez’s next fight will be against Jamaine Ortiz, and Crawford suggested that his rival should focus instead on the task at hand.
He added: “Hey Teofimo Lopez, naw real ****, good luck in yo fight. Focus on him because he can fight and I don’t want you to look bad worrying about me when you got other problems on yo hands.”
