Uncorking an uppercut to drop Jaime Munguia in the fourth round of their fight Saturday night paved the way for Canelo Alvarez to produce a unanimous decision.
With the victory, the undisputed super middleweight world champion knows he calls the shots on future bouts. And his options remain enticing as always.
Here, DAZN lists three possible opponents for the boxing legend.
David Benavidez
Benavidez fights Oleksandr Gvozdyk in light heavyweight action on June 15.
Another convincing win and there will only be more groundswell and hunger for a Canelo-Benavidez showdown.
DAZN's Jim Gray asked Alvarez about the prospect for the mega bout and at first, the Mexican boxing sensation said "I don't know right now."
But within seconds, Canelo explained how that can change.
"If the money is right, I'll make that call," Alvarez told Gray. "If the money is right, I can fight right now. I don't give a s—t."
Fans and critics alike have long been clamoring for a fight between the two.
If Benavidez defeats Gvozdyk next month, there'll even be a greater uptick in calling for Canelo and Benavidez to fight as early as September with Mexican Independence Day weekend being the ideal landing spot for the most-anticipated bout in boxing.
Terence Crawford
Canelo has dismissed the notion of fighting Crawford before. However, as he sits back and weighs his options, there is no doubting the star power and the money that such a super fight would bring.
For Crawford, an undisputed world champion at junior welterweight and welterweight, moving three weight classes up for a crack at an unprecedented third undisputed crown would be the epitome of daring to be even greater than he already is.
For Canelo, stopping him and attempting to flex boxing's levels against the pound-for-pound best would be another significant chapter in his growing legacy.
A Dmitry Bivol rematch
With Bivol's undisputed light heavyweight clash against Artur Beterbiev being postponed, would Canelo once again try to seek out a rematch with the undefeated fighter?
Doing so and landing the chance to run it back would present Alvarez with the opportunity to avenge his unanimous decision loss to Bivol in May 2022. That bout marked Canelo's second career loss as Bivol overwhelmed him with a volume of punches.
