Tony Bellew wants Anthony Joshua to face rival in trilogy matchup for his next fight

Tony Bellew wants Anthony Joshua to face rival in trilogy matchup for his next fightDAZN
Anthony Joshua's next move has not been confirmed.

Tony Bellew believes Anthony Joshua should face former world champion Andy Ruiz Jr. in his next fight.

Following an impressive seventh round knockout win against Robert Helenius in August, it was expected that Joshua would face Deontay Wilder in a huge matchup later this year.

However, this particular contest is likely to be pushed back to early 2024, therefore Joshua is looking to stay active and could fight before the end of the year.

Speaking to Froch on Fighting, Bellew would like Joshua to renew hostilities with Ruiz in his next outing and bring their rivalry to a close in a trilogy fight.

"Andy Ruiz. I like that fight," Bellew said.

"I think he pulverises Ruiz this time. But I would like to have seen the Dillian Whyte fight, that would have been a very good fight.”

Joshua and Ruiz have met on two previous occasions, both coming in 2019.

The first encounter was in June of that year when Ruiz shocked the world and stopped Joshua in round seven to become the unified heavyweight champion of the world. A rematch then followed six months later with the British star getting his revenge in a dominant unanimous decision victory.
