Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are two of boxing’s biggest names, but one fighter believes they would have struggled to make an impact in a previous generation.
James ‘Buster’ Douglas was the number one heavyweight in 1990 after upsetting Mike Tyson, but he’s not impressed with what he sees today.
Last month, Fury lost his WBC crown to Oleksandr Usyk meaning he and Joshua are both without world titles.
The pair could end up fighting in 2025, but Douglas feels neither man would’ve made an impact when he was the sport’s heavyweight champion.
“I speak to my trainer about today's heavyweights, and he has a low opinion of them and says they [Fury and AJ] wouldn't have been in the top 30 in my era, I have to agree,” said Douglas when speaking to Gambling Zone.
“They have skills, but as far as endurance, I don't know. They don't seem to be able to withstand power and aggressiveness.”
