Tyson Fury has suggested that Floyd Mayweather should fight him for a WBC Celebrity Boxing Belt, while defending his decision to pursue exhibition fights.

Tyson Fury has suggested that Floyd Mayweather Jr. should fight him for the WBC Celebrity "Boxing Belt."

Mayweather is rumored to be in talks with YouTube celebrity Logan Paul regarding a potential exhibition fight.

The match-up comes after Mayweather beat MMA fighter Conor McGregor — in his last professional fight in 2017 — and Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in recent events.

Paul fought and lost in 2019 against fellow YouTuber, KSI.

A proposed fight against Paul has been criticized as a sideshow and contrasts starkly with some of the tougher professional fights that Mayweather undertook on his route to an undefeated professional record of 50-0.

However, Fury is backing Mayweather to compete in any fights he wishes.

The WBC heavyweight champion said: “It’s show business, if it’s going to bring fans to the boxing game then I’m for it.

“Floyd Mayweather’s been doing this lately for the Conor McGregor fight and the Japanese guy, now he’s on about fighting Logan Paul.

"He’s done all the hard fights against the younger up and coming challengers, he’s fought all the Canelos, he’s fought all the [Diego] Corrales and them people, [Jose] Castillo and the [Ricky] Hatton’s, he’s done it all.

“So if the guy wants to fight Mr. Blobby in his next fight then fair play to him. He’s earned the right to pick what he wants to do and have a good little play around in the ring."

Fury claimed that he would be happy to pay up in order to watch the fight himself.

“The guys 40 odd years old, I’m sure there’s a market for it, so if there’s a market for it and people want to see it, then why not make it happen? And I’m sure everyone will pay for it, pay-per-view, I will, and I’m a boxing fan and I want to see it,” he said.

“Everyone will tune in, it’s boxing, it’s Floyd Mayweather, it’s Logan Paul, tune in, pay your 60 dollars and get it," he continued. "It’ll be a giggle won’t it, you never know what can happen, one is a heavyweight, one is a welterweight."

Speaking to iFL TV, he even suggested the pair should meet for their own fight: "After he beats Logan Paul he’ll be in prime position to challenge me for the WBC Celebrity Boxing Belt."

Fury has taken part in his own events outside professional boxing, having faced Braun Strowman in a 2019 WWE event in Saudia Arabia.
