Tyson Fury is no stranger to stepping in the ring with dangerous opponents, but the current WBC champion has named his third fight with Deontay Wilder as the hardest night of his career.
In October 2021, Fury and Wilder hit the deck five times in total before the Brit managed to secure victory in the fight’s penultimate round.
The result strengthened Fury’s hold on a terrific three-fight series where the first fight was drawn before Fury took victory in the second meeting.
The final encounter went down as one of heavyweight boxing’s most dramatic contests and Fury doesn’t hold back when discussing just how tough it was.
“I think Wilder 3. Me and Deontay had a trilogy, three title fights together – I think the third one was probably the hardest fight of my career,” said Fury on a recent Twitter Space.
“We both went to war. We both came in with damaging intentions. He put me down twice, I put him down three times, and I ended up getting a knockout in round eleven.
“I do believe it took a lot out of both fighters, for sure. Hell of a fight.”
