The boxing world was hit with dissappointment earlier this year when the undisputed heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk was delayed.
Originally scheduled to take place on February 17 in Saudi Arabia, the contest was hit with a postponement after Fury picked up a deep cut in a sparring session.
The fight has since been rescheduled for May 18, and Fury is now in a race against time for the cut to fully heal and be ready for what will be the biggest moment in his career.
Fury's nutritionist, George Lockhart has given an insight to Fury's recovery during an interview with Betway and spoke about how garlic will be vital in ensuring that the cut will not become hindrance come the opening bell.
"High protein helps massively as the body needs to recover, rebuild and repair itself. Lots of protein, lots of water and fluid, and while it’s not sexy that is the type of foods that will help recover a bad cut," Lockhart said.
A lot of red meats and stuff with iron in it. Not just meats but things with a lot of micronutrients in it, including garlic, spinach, carrots, onion, and mix everything together.
"Garlic is a great source to help you recover quickly as it kills off bacteria and germs in a cut. Like I said, red meat is the key source of protein.
"I’m not one of those nutritionists who says food will solve everything, but it has a huge impact over time in terms of recovery and injuries of that nature, but the most important thing is time.
"The doctor said that the cut will heal in three weeks. People don’t realise that the normal person is fine with a cut like this but if you’re going to get punched in the face, it will take a long time.
"Even May is close for this fight to be happening but I know he wants to take care of business so I think he will get it done."
