The DAZN Boxing Show lauded the return of an aggressive and dangerous Anthony Joshua, and both Akin Reyes and Barak Bess considered whether Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder will be his next opponent.
Joshua battered Otto Wallin into a retirement at the end of the fifth round, leaving the Swede unable to come back for the sixth, and Reyes thinks that some of the old AJ was coming back.
He said: “He looked like a different AJ. He was throwing more than one punch at a time, his jab to the body was keeping him at the right range.
“I think we’re seeing him morph a little bit into the old AJ, but with what he’s learned from the old trainers.
“It’s all coming together now, and if he develops that and takes it up a notch, that Fury vs. AJ fight is becoming more and more interesting.”
Bess thinks that Joshua looked good against Wallin, and was the star of the night, but was not sure who out of Fury or Wilder would be best next.
He said: “He had the best performance of the night, considering his fights proper to that. We wanted to see a more aggressive AJ and we saw that.
“Styles make fights, but that is the AJ that is sharp, dangerous and confident. Let him be happy enough or angry enough to give us the best performance of the night.
“He handled him way better than Tyson Fury handled him. He busted him up and stopped him. That’s a great AJ. It seems like with Wilder vs. AJ, there’s still unfinished business there.”
