Eddie Hearn has said he's had talks over a fight between WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. However, Hearn remains skeptical that any event will come soon.

Fury has been active on social media this week, claiming he is keen to take on Joshua, and the former heavyweight champion has responded in kind. Nevertheless, Hearn explained he had been in touch with Fury’s co-promoter.

“What I can tell you is I’ve had talks with George Warren from Queensberry Promotions, and I’ve said to him we’re more than happy to sit down and discuss your offer: Give us your day, give us your plan," Hearn said on The DAZN Boxing Show.

“I expect either a date either AJ can’t make, an earlier date, or a lowball offer. We’ll go through the process because genuinely he wants the fight. I think the fight will happen. December? Probably not.”

Hearn is concerned that the offer may not be credible.

“I don’t want to be too cynical and for people to think I’m not exploring the option of this fight,” Hearn said on The DAZN Boxing Show. “AJ has made it very clear he’s all in for that fight. He has been for a long, long time. Since the Usyk fight, our plan was to fight in December then fight in February or March. Get active, knock out a few guys from the top 15, but if there is the option to fight for the world heavyweight title again in what is the biggest fight in the sport, then absolutely, he would consider that.

“At the same time, Fury had retired for the third time. Then he was trying to make a fight with Derek Chisora. Then he would only come back for half a billion. Then he’s fighting Oleksandr Usyk, so it’s like for me. What it looks like is an opportunity for Fury to say: ‘I tried to fight AJ, tried to fight this guy, tried to fight this guy,’ and then fight a really poor opponent in December. Maybe that’s the boxing cynic in me.”
