The WBC champion will now defend his belt in October.

Michael Hunter believes that it is ‘fishy’ that Tyson Fury suffered from a coronavirus infection and claimed that he ‘wasn’t doing well’ in training for his fight with Deontay Wilder.

The Bronze Bomber had forced a trilogy rematch with the current WBC champion but their July 24 bout was called off when Fury was a victim of his bout’s Covid-19 outbreak.

However, 33-year-old Hunter, who fought Fury in the amateurs, told FightHype: “We do know that he wasn’t doing too well in the gym, but not enough to call the fight off.

“To me, it was kind of funny because, on the first day, they said, ‘Somebody on this team got Covid’.

"And then the next thing we heard was Tyson got Covid. So I thought that was a little fishy."

Despite the hints towards subterfuge, Hunter still makes Fury the favourite when he fights Wilder in October.

Hunter said: “I’m leaning more towards Fury.

"He got a draw in the first fight, which he just got off the couch in his first fight back. Then he won the second fight."
