Tyson Fury's father makes sensational plea for his son to sack trainer

Tyson Fury's father makes sensational plea for his son to sack trainerFox Sports

John Fury has called on his son, Tyson, to sack Sugar Hill Steward as his trainer following comments that the Detroit native recently made regarding whether he was training Fury for a potential Oleksandr Usyk fight.

In Britain to prepare Lawrence Okolie for a bout with David Light, Steward revealed that he had not begun working with Fury when it appeared that the WBC champion would be facing Usyk on April 29.

Talks between the two teams eventually broke down and with no fight confirmed for either man, it’s unclear what the next step is for both heavyweight champions.

With Fury linked to multiple fights, is it possible that his successful run with Steward is over following his recent take on matters? If it was up to his father, then Steward would no longer be working with Tyson.

“Tyson is my son, and I will stand with him until the day I die,” said Fury Sr when speaking to Metro via Free Bets

“That thing with Sugar Hill the other day, what the hell was that about? ‘I’m only here for Okolie.’ What was he talking about? When I have seen him training Tyson, he was living in Tyson’s house, he had his missus there, he was using the gym and I have seen him working Tyson out.

“All of a sudden, he denied him like Judas Iscariot denied Jesus Christ? What the hell was going on there? For me, that is a sacking offence. He will be down the road for that charade. It was upsetting.”
