Tyson Fury is just a few weeks away from trying to become undisputed heavyweight champion when he faces Oleksandr Usyk on May 18.
Fury is preparing hard for the bout and one man who has been around his camp is current cruiserweight world champion, Jai Opetaia.
The Australian fighter was part of Fury’s training set up for the original date with Usyk in February, but he left after just a few rounds of sparring.
Several rumours circulated including Opetaia having the better of the rounds, but Spencer Brown, Fury’s manager, has had his say on the matter.
“I’ll put a little record straight here, Jai Opetaia flew in – lovely kid, great team, great fighter. But all this rubbish about he put Tyson away and all that, you probably heard yourself,” said Brown when speaking to Queensberry Promotions.
“It’s a load of rubbish. I think he was a little bit shocked at how good Tyson really was. He’s a cruiserweight, not taking nothing away from him – great fighter, lovely kid.”
