Nick Ball has the opportunity to become world champion when he faces Rey Vargas this Friday in what promises to be a fascinating encounter.
Vargas, the current WBC featherweight ruler, has plenty of experience at world level and he’ll need to be at his best if he’s to retain that crown against Ball.
The Liverpool man has impressed on his climb to this level and there’s one more obstacle in his way as he looks to become world champion.
Despite lacking the experience of Vargas, Ball begins the fight a slight favourite and he’s promising to deliver when it matters most.
“It’ll be an explosive performance,” said Ball when speaking to Sky Sports. “I know I’ve got a lot more in me to show. This opponent and this style, this will bring the best out of me.
“I’ve been working my whole life for it and now I’ve got the chance, on a massive platform. So, I’m not going to let it slip. Definitely not.”
