WBC announces new Frontline Battle Belt for Tyson-Jones fightDAZN
The WBC has announced that it has created a new belt, the Frontline Battle Belt, for the match-up between veterans Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr.

When Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. meet next month, they will be fighting for a belt designed specifically for them.

The 54-year-old Tyson and 51-year-old Jones will fight on Nov. 28 as the pair come out of retirement. In Tyson’s case, he has not fought in 16 years, and the two have been back in the gym and the ring to prepare.

With the publicity surrounding the event, the WBC governing body has decided to create a belt to commemorate the fight. The WBC Frontline Battle Belt will be up for grabs when they finally meet.

In a press release, the WBC explained the scoring method, with former champions employed as judges for the exhibition fight.

The statement said: “WBC’s remote scoring system will be used to evaluate Tyson and Jones Jr.’s performance. Three champions will serve as the judges. Each round will be scored and announced to the public. California State Athletic Commission will oversee, regulate, and sanction.”

Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion of the world, aged 20, in 1986 and unified the IBF, WBA and WBC titles. Jones, meanwhile, has held titles in four different weight classes.
