WBC should order JoJo Diaz to fight Devin Haney, argues Eddie HearnMatchroom Boxing
The Matchroom promoter tells the DAZN Boxing Show that he's tired of waiting for a challenger to Devin Haney.

Matchroom head Eddie Hearn wants the WBC to order JoJo Diaz to fight Devin Haney.

Diaz is now the WBC mandatory challenger, a title he claimed after Ryan Garcia stepped back from the sport earlier in the year.

That gives him the right to take on champion Haney, but it appears that Diaz favours a fight against a returning Garcia.

Hearn understands why Diaz might think Garcia is an easier win.

“As far as Devin Haney is concerned, really, we want the WBC to put their foot down and say, okay, order JoJo Diaz," Hearn told the DAZN Boxing Show.

“I think JoJo is certainly not ducking Haney. But he's looking at it and saying, ‘Ryan Garcia wants to fight me. I'm mandatory to Devin Haney. Let me see what the offers are, and let me decide what I think the easiest fight is.’”

While Hearn wants the Diaz fight, he is ready to make another big fight if the interim belt holder does not commit to a bout.

“So again, Devin Haney will be boxing end of October, early November,” he began.

“And we'd like it to be Jojo Diaz. If it isn't, he wants a big fight, you know, and he's ready for all comers.”
