Katie Taylor faces Amanda Serrano this weekend in a huge encounter at Madison Square Garden, exclusively live on DAZN
The fight sees two of boxing’s premier female performers face off and the eyes of the world will be on this huge event. This is not the first time Taylor has faced a member of the Serrano family though.
In October 2018, Cindy Serrano found herself in a position that her younger sister, Amanda, is in right now. She was about to take on Taylor.
After enjoying a solid career, which included a world title victory over Calista Silgado, Serrano decided to take a leap in weight and class so that she could face Taylor at lightweight. The Irish star had been pro for two years and was making a significant impact as one of boxing’s most dominant females.

Taylor began the fight a huge favourite and the gulf in class was evident early as Serrano found herself consistently being caught by Taylor’s fast hands. Despite her best efforts, Serrano could not find her way into the fight as Taylor dominated from the outset.
After ten one-sided rounds, Taylor was handed the victory by the ringside judges, and they were all in agreement that Taylor had won every round. The win ensured Taylor remained world champion, but for Serrano, it was her last fight as she soon bowed out of the sport shortly afterwards.
