Vasiliy Lomachenko and Geroge Kambosos Jr. attempted to become a world champion once more when the pair clashed for the IBF lightweight title on Saturday night in Perth, Australia.
Before the fight, Kambosos appeared confident and even vowed to send the Ukrainian into retirement, but it was Lomachenko who came out on top in a dominant performance.
Lomachenko's footwork and ability to change tactics on the fly proved too much for Kambosos who took a knee in round 11 following a left hand to the body. While the Australian managed to rise off the canvas and continue, Lomachenko seized the opportunity and targeted Kambosos' body once more who was again forced to take a second knee.
This prompted the referee to stop the fight and Lomachenko was once again a world champion.
A second world champion was also crowned on the same card with Cherneka Johnson becoming the new WBA women's bantamweight champion after beating Nina Hughes on a majority decision verdict.
