Will Robert Garcia continue to train Anthony Joshua? Eddie Hearn has his sayDAZN

Despite losing to Oleksandr Usyk for a second time earlier this month, there were clear signs of improvement from Anthony Joshua compared to the first fight last year.

In prepartion for his rematch with Usyk, Joshua brought in legendary trainer Robert Garcia to replace Robert McCracken, but it's unknown whether the American will continue to train the British boxing star in future fights.

During a recent interview, Garcia expressed his desire to continue training Joshua, but claimed that the former two-time world heavyweight champion will need to make some changes in order to feel the full benefits of his coaching

When asked to give an update on Joshua's coaching situation on The DAZN Boxing Show, his promoter Eddie Hearn believes Joshua will go back to basics before making a decision on who will be a part of his camp for future fights.

"I’ve seen a few interviews and stuff like that. Robert gave his honest opinion," Hearn responded when asked about Garcia's recent comments.

"I don’t know how that will sit. I’ve not spoken to AJ about it in the last day or so.

"Knowing AJ right now he’ll want to take it back to basics, because this is the rebuilding process.

"This is now about momentum and activity and getting in the groove and firing on all cylinders."

One part of this rebuilding process for Joshua is going back to his roots at Finchley & District Amateur Boxing Club, a place which inspires the 32-year-old, Hearn claims.

"He’s [Anthony Joshua] always at Finchley, he’s never away from that place, but I think that place inspires him because that’s the place that changed his life.

"The caption he put out was ‘I love this game’, and I can imagine him walking through those doors and thinking 'This is my home'.

"I think sometimes when life gets complicated you’ve got to make it as simple as possible.

"We’ll be working on a December or January date for him."
