William Zepeda is aiming to fight Shakur Stevenson in his next fight, though he has to get past Giovanni Cabrera next.
The lightweight contender could put himself into position for a championship fight with an impressive win, and Stevenson, the WBC champion, is one potential target.
The unbeaten American also fights on Saturday night. Zepeda vs. Cabrera is live on DAZN , while Stevenson vs. Artem Harutyunyan will be on ESPN in the US ( click here for details ).
Stevenson and Zepeda are both backed by the bookies to succeed, and speaking to BoxingScene , the latter made it clear he wanted to make a fight after their respective bouts.
“I'd like Shakur next. Our styles mesh. He's the type of fighter who doesn't really put himself in danger in his fights. I would have to go after him, and he would box. But I think it would be a very entertaining fight.
“We're willing to fight and I think that fight is going to happen.”
Live on DAZN: Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal on July 6. Click here for details .
