Yokasta Valle is looking to become the female undisputed minimumwieght champion as she prepares for Thursday’s fight against Thi Thu Nhi Nguyen.
The pair fight live on DAZN and both of them bring a belt to the table.
Valle is the IBF champion while her Vietnamese rival Ngueyen holds the WBO strap. The pair will fight it out to become unified champion in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Speaking to BoxingScene.com , Valle admitted that she had expected to fight Seniesa Estrada for her titles, but is content with her current obligation.
“I feel happy for this opportunity. All I’ve ever wanted was to get a unification fight,” she said.
“Now we have the chance to fight another champion. I wanted to fight Seniesa Estrada but I didn’t need her. I just needed to fight another champion and now we have that opportunity.”
This is Valle’s fifth fight in little over a year, and her third of 2022, with her most recent success being a win over Lorraine Vllalobos on June 11.
Valle explained her full ambitions, saying: “I want to unify all four belts and win the Ring Magazine championship.
“Nobody has ever won that before in this weight division. Once I am able to achieve that goal, then we will look into moving up in weight and becoming a multi-division champion.
“For now, I am very comfortable at strawweight and I have unfinished business here.”
