Yudai Shigeoka puts his undefeated record and his WBC world minimumweight title on the line against Melvin Jerusalem tonight.
Shigeoka won the belt last October when he defeated previous titleholder Panya Pradabsri by unanimous decision. That result saw the 26-year-old improve to 8-0, and now he makes his first defence of the title.
Jerusalem held the WBO belt in this division with a January 2023 victory over Masataka Taniguchi, but he lost the title in his first defence just over four months later. The 30-year-old got back to winning ways with a unanimous decision victory against Francis Jay Diaz in October.
