'Zurdo' Ramirez reveals want went wrong against Dmitry Bivol, calls for rematchDAZN

Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez still believes that he can become a two-weight world champion.

His first attempt at achieving this feat didn't come through last November after being beaten convincingly by WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol on points.

Going into that fight 44-0 (30 KOs), many fans were excited to see Ramirez unleash his power against one of the world's best pound-for-pound fighters, but when reflecting on the Bivol fight for The DAZN Boxing Show, Ramirez admitted that he arrived in Abu Dhabi with the wrong strategy.

"I think it wasn’t my night," Ramirez said.

"I don’t take anything from him, he did a really good job.

"I could have gone forward more, I tried to box him. My strategy wasn’t successful."

While a defeat like that can take a fighter's career off the rails, it has instead fuelled Ramirez to challenge once again for the top honours at 175lbs, and if that means facing Bivol once more, it's something the Mexican would be eager to pursue.

"Yes of course, I want the rematch, I want to fight the best at light heavyweight," Ramirez told Ak and Barak when asked whether he would face the WBA light heavyweight champion for a second time.

But before Ramirez can challenge for another world title, he needs to get past Gabriel Rosado who makes his light heavyweight debut on March 18 live on DAZN
